conference is THIS WEEK not last:)

only in the south do you find things like this.. i love it:)

sister Burgoyne and i eating alligator.

haha sorry everyone i thought conference was last week but i just got confused with women's conference and things soo some things that happened this past week.. sister Burgoyne and i were taken out for a treat monday night and we went to this really nice restoration where we got to try alligator bits and then have dinner. everything on the menu was sea food except for 1 thing so of course i got that 1 thing which was chicken:) ahha i totally thought i had gotten out of eating sea food until the member who took us out sister Mattheson said "here! try my scallops, they are so good!" so of course i had to try it and it was disgusting!! haha i dont know if i have mentioned it or not but i have had a lot of sea food down here in lake charles and let me tell you i think the lord is trying to humble me with liking sea food but so far i still do not like it!! but the alligator wasnt to bad! everyone was right, it did taste like chicken but i couldnt get over the fact that i was eating a creature that eats rotten meat... haha

womens conference was amazing!! i loved it all and it was really fun cause the stake here put on the beautiful dinner and then did this craft and service project and then we are went in and watched conference together which was fun:) everyone is asking me where i will be watching conference at so we are going to be watching conference at some investigators homes naming samuel white, and michelle vanwinkle and then a recent convert named andrea lytle and and members home named sister Trahan. i am so excited for conference!! its going to be so good!! i feel as though conference for a missionary is like Christmas for them:)
some cool things that happened this week are, sister Burgoyne and i got a media referral named andrea robinson and we went and contacted her Saturday, she told us that she wanted to learn what we believe because she is searching for something and she believes that there hast to be 1 true church... sister Burgoynes and i just were so amazed!! we are going back to see her this wednesday and we are so excited!! hahaha michelle is working on trying to quite smoking so we will see! so far she hasnt come to church which stinks but thats alright because sooner or later she will:) cynthina fusilier is doing good:) we have only meet with her once and she seems really promising:) james morris has been so busy that we haven't seen him since he came to church 2 weeks ago but we text him and he has been praying and reading when he gets a chance which is awesome:) bray is so amazing!!! he just arrived in Georgia last night and he texted us and asked if we could give him some reading assignments or things he can look up which is a huge miracle!! he is so prepared its not even funny!!! plus he is planing on watching conference this weekend and is really excited about it:)

sister Burgoyne and i are really excited about conference this week end and easter, haha we are planning to die Easter eggs with our neighbor today named shea, we went out for lunch last week with her, she is 23 years old and is pregnant, her boy friend and her live together and i guess her dad is Mormon. she wants to feed us sometime and sister Burgoyne and i are planing to start teaching her and her fiances, they are so prepared and they are the cutest couple ever!! ahha

things are going really good her in lake Charles:) and the weather just keeps getting better and better:) i hope you all go to conference this weekend with a question in mind and a desire to do what the prophet and the apostles say, and i know as you do you will have a better understanding of what god wants you to do at this time. i love you all so much! have a bless week! (thats what the people in the south say) and know that i and heavenly father love you:)

conference week!

me and my good old pal, elder heaps! we went to high school together and we are now in the same zone!:)

my food for st patricks day:) a holiday cookie and a green rap:)

hey everyone!!

from what i can remember st. patricks day was this last week? that or all of my weeks are just blending together.anyways sister Burgoyne and i dressed all up for the occasion:)

just some random things that happened... first off this 89 year old lady this week asked me if i was pregnate... i said "no, why do i look like it!" and she just answered with a "no".... yep so that made me feel good about myself. then on thursdaywe had zone conference all the way up in Beaumont texas and that was an hour and a half away from lake Charles so we were there all day but they announced  that we will be getting i pads sometime in may so we will see if that happens! also we got black boxes in our cars now. i dont know if yall know what a black box is but it speaks to you of how you are driving and corrects you if you go to fast or turn to sharp or really if you are just doing anything wrong and then it reports it back up to the church and if you are driving to crazy then the church can take away your driving privileges.. so its a good thing that that black box hasnt talked to me yet!

other than all of those random facts this past week was pretty good other than almost all of our appointments falling through and then not really being in our year for about 2 days worth we still saw a lot of miracles.

for instance this lady last week came up to sister Burgoyne and i and asked if we were the mormon missionaries. we told her yes and she said. "my name is sabrina Dowies am not active in the church right now but i want to start coming back and i have been looking for the missionaries" haha we asked her where she lives and she said "lake charles" then we told her, were your missionaries!! we got her number and we are going to start teaching her the lessons again and get her coming back to church:)

then there was a media referral that sister Burgoyne and i got a couple of weeks ago and we had been trying to call her and get a hold of her but she never answered so st patricks day we went and contacted down her street and when we got to her house (oh her name is cynthia fuslier) she opened the door and said come on in! as though she knew that we were coming! we went in and started talking to her and we asked her how we found our website! she said she didnt know what we were talking about and doesnt know any mormon but said that we could come back and teach her which is what we are doing tomorrow! ahha i truly believe that god gave sister Burgoyne and i a referral for cynthia because who else could have referred her? right? right!:)

also our ward mission leaders name is brother caple hes only about 28 years old and hehas a friend named Bray, bray used to live in utah and has got to temple square a couple of time and loves it there!! he told us of all of these times where he has been with mormon and he came to church yesterday and got a church tour. he love sacrament so much and said that it was business like and spiritual at the sametime! sister Burgoyne and i are trying to start teaching him but he wants to learn for himself but yesterday he met witht the bishop and the bishop advised him to start meeting with us missionaries. hes in the milary and he is going on a mission somewhere this saturday but he said that he is going to watch general conference and is really excited!! haha afterward he text brother caple and said "aww man i feel so good!! thank you so much for everything bro! your my hero!!" i know that bray is so prepared and i just want to start teaching him!!! so please keep him in all of your prayers because i know that one day he will join its just the when factor right now!

well my time is up! here are some pictures of what are week was like! enjoy and dont forget to prepare yourself for general conference this week end! i love you all!! remember who you are stand as truth and righteousness return with honor! and dont forget to always be an example to those around you, you never know who is watching.

March 2, 2015

well sorry everyone! i dont have to much time but! let me tell you all a little but about my week:)

so it started out a crazy week where all of our teaching pool was vanished! it was awful but because of that we had a lot of free time on our hands to go out and do a lot of finding! haha which is sister Burgonye's favoirte... not! she hates that but it was good because it got to teach her how to learn how to talk with everyone. you know the whole teach when you find, find when you teach kind of thing. From that though we was so many miracles! we found some awesome people and we are excited for the miracles that lay ahead from all of these people:)

one of our investigators name is Michelle Vanwinkle she is related to Annette Vanwinkle who is a recent convert. Well we started teaching Michelle about 2 weeks ago and a little bit of a back ground story for her is that she was born and raised in salt lake city, has always loved the mormons and what they believe, is in her late 50's i believe and is married to this man that doesnt believe in God because one of his children was kiddnaped rapped and killed and then left on the streets. So thats a little back ground of Michelle. Anyways the first time we meet her we taugh her about the restoration all the way up to prophet but then she had to hurry and go to the doctors so we didnt get to finish or less but before we left she asked for a book of mormon. then this past week sister Burgoyne and i got back in with her and she told us that she prayed and got an answer and that she has been reading the book of mormon from the begining and she is now in Mosiah. isnt that just awesome! we then taught her the rest of the restoration and she just kept saying it just all makes sense! we then intived her to be baptized and she said yes! so that is where we are at right now with michelle vanwinkle so we will see if everything goes as planed! but what i learned from this experience this week is that even though times can be hard and things if you just keep working hard and have faith that god will then put little tender mercies and miracles in our lifes everyday we just have to be looking for them.

other than that i cant really think of anything else that happened this week! the weeks just start blending together and i cant think of what all happened! but i just want everyone to know how much i love this gospel and the work of the lord. to see peoples faces light up when they have the knowledge of the gospel is so breathe taking a rewarding thing ever. I love the plan that god has for each and everyone of us and i know he loves us each specifially and knows us personally. i know this because i see it everyday in my own life. i love you all and i thank you all for you sweet prayers and kind love words. yall are the best! did you see that i put yall in there? im trying to wrok on it;) haha until next time! remember tell you friends about the church! be an example be a missionary by being someones friend! god will do the rest i can promise you that. i love you all!!

love, sister Turpin

ps. sorry no pictures this week i was to busy!!
